The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Singleton on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Singleton fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Singleton misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Steamboat.
Steamboat shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Singleton but Singleton pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Steamboat throws a left and a right that both miss
and Steamboat takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Singleton swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Singleton throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Singleton swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

and Steamboat counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Singleton!
Steamboat looking to control but Singleton is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Steamboat looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Steamboat prevents Singleton from getting the reversal.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Steamboat with the ground and pound from mount.
Singleton is trying to escape the mount.
Singleton wants to hold on but Steamboat pushes him away.

Singleton is in all sorts of trouble here.

Singleton moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Steamboat avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Singleton is on top in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Steamboat makes his way to full guard, as Singleton worked for a kimura.

Singleton drops back looking for a leg! Steamboat is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Steamboat manages to kick Singleton off! Singleton jumps back into Steamboat's guard.

Steamboat wants to hold on but Singleton pushes him away.

Singleton with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Steamboat tries to lock up and control but Singleton gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Singleton goes for an armbar but Steamboat turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Steamboat.
Steamboat must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Steamboat wants to control from the top but Singleton keeps moving.

That was a close round but I would say that Schoonie Singleton will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Steamboat drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Singleton has Steamboat pulled in close to control his posture.
Steamboat trying to control but Singleton is working from the bottom.
Singleton wants to sweep but no luck.
Steamboat throws a strike but Singleton rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Singleton passes Steamboat's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Steamboat pushes Singleton off but Singleton dives into side control.
Steamboat is breathing heavily.

Singleton is working to tighten is grip on Steamboat's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Steamboat has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Singleton is really squeezing tight and eventually Steamboat passes out! Singleton breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
