PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jimbo Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnny Blaze (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Johnson comes to the cage accompanied by The Bull - Massacrtion. Blaze has chosen The Dropkick Murphys-The Warriors Code as his entrance music. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jimbo Johnson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Johnny Blaze!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Chris Downing and Daniel Franklin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Blaze keeps the fight on the outside.

Johnson gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Blaze trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Johnson utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Blaze trying to control the position from guard on top but Johnson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Blaze trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Johnson keeping full guard, as Blaze tries to pass.
Johnson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Johnson pulls Blaze in to control the position.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Blaze connects with a crisp jab.
Blaze bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Blaze tries to bum rush Johnson with a series of wild strikes but Johnson uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Blaze closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Blaze is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Johnson has escaped the position, nice work there.

Blaze stands up.
Blaze closes the distance but Johnson moves to the side
and Johnson cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Johnson slips a jab and a cross from Blaze.
Johnson throws a right and a left that both miss.
Johnson tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Johnson swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Blaze counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Johnson!
Johnson keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Blaze tries to control but Johnson wriggling away.
Johnson slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Johnson wants to control but Blaze is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Blaze wants to free his trapped foot but Johnson is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Johnson is looking to control Blaze's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Johnson avoid being mounted?

Johnson is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Blaze's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Blaze's back!

Blaze is trying to break free.
Blaze looks gassed!
Good control from Johnson.
Blaze breaks Johnson's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Johnson has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Johnson is trying to control the position but Blaze postures up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Johnson wants to sweep here but Blaze controlling him for the moment.

Blaze content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Johnson has locked up a guillotine! Johnson's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Blaze is holding on here and Johnson must be using up a lot of energy. Blaze has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Johnson gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
