The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Takahashi fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with halen, pushing him back against the cage.
Takahashi connects with a nasty looking knee right to halen's face.

It looks like van halen has been cut.
Takahashi content to slow the pace in the clinch.
halen tries to score a body lock takedown but Takahashi shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
halen drops down looking for an ankle pick but Takahashi pulls his leg out and moves away.
Takahashi slips a jab and a cross from halen.
A decent looking cross lands there for Takahashi.
halen tries to clinch but Takahashi moves away

and Takahashi counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Takahashi creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through halen's defenses.

Takahashi turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Takahashi manages to end up in side control.

Takahashi tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Takahashi is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. halen knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Takahashi creates some space and throws a big elbow, but halen sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
halen pushes Takahashi away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Takahashi gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
halen is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Takahashi prevents halen from escaping the position.
halen stops Takahashi from passing to mount.
The strikes coming from Takahashi are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Takahashi in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.

Takahashi thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
halen is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Takahashi has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think halen should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Takahashi has tightened it up now! halen should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
