Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Pete Swishel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Brown (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Swishel comes to the cage accompanied by Thunderstruck. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Pete Swishel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, James Brown!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Ren Mimura and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Swishel walks into a straight right hand from Brown.
Brown waving his hands out infront of him, looking to distract Swishel.
Swishel tries a head kick but it misses.
Brown lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Swishel circles away quickly and effectively.
Pete Swishel seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Swishel throws a combination that misses

and Brown counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Brown wants to control from the top but Swishel keeps moving.
Swishel is pulling down on Brown's head. It's preventing any offense from Brown, at least for the moment.
Brown throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Swishel works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Brown is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Brown accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Brown wants to pass the guard but Swishel is keeping the position.
Brown with a flurry of punches that miss.
Swishel not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Brown shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Brown postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Swishel holds on and takes a little breather.
Brown stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Swishel swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Swishel looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

Brown postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Brown trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Swishel is looking for a triangle but Brown pushes his legs off easily.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Swishel misses with a wild combination.

so Brown counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Brown is looking to advance position but Swishel has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
Brown is looking to get to half guard.
Brown is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Swishel with shots to the head and body - Brown looks very uncomfortable down there.
Brown can't escape the position.

Swishel with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Brown is desperately trying to improve his position but Swishel has a good base and remains in mount.

Swishel working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.

Swishel is going olschool here, as he tries to force Brown to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Brown shrugs it off.

Brown is looking to improve his position but Swishel isn't that keen on the idea.

James Brown dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Brown shoots in but no luck this time.
Brown tries for a takedown but Swishel circles away easily
and Swishel makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Swishel scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Brown doesn't seem bothered though.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Brown.
Brown really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Swishel. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Brown laying and praying for a moment but Swishel takes advantage and regains half guard.

Brown looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Brown seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Swishel does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Swishel is trying to maintain the position but Brown is very close to passing his half guard.
Swishel tries to roll over but Brown keeps him under control.
Swishel regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Brown.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Swishel working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Brown doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Brown manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Brown lands a couple of digs.
Brown tries to free his leg and advance position but Swishel is retaining full guard.
Brown controls from within his opponent's guard.
Swishel pulls Brown in close to his closed guard and prevents Brown from doing any damage or advancing position.
Brownis looking to pass into half guard but Swishel pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Swishel is in guard.

Brown looking to hit a scissor sweep but Swishel is one step ahead there.

Swishel thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Brown wants to sweep but no luck.

Brown working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Swishel doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Swishel manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Swishel seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Swishel keeping moving, preventing Brown from controlling successfully.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Brown loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Swishel stops Brown from passing to mount.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Brown wants to control but Swishel is keeping him busy.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Swishel finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Swishel throws a nice looking combination but Brown bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Swishel gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Brown with a flurry of punches that miss.
Brown must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Brown throws a strike but Swishel rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Swishel makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Swishel is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Brown with a couple of shots from the bottom there - nothing Swishel can't handle though.

Brown is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Brown takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Swishel slips nicely into half guard.
Swishel slips a nice elbow through Brown's hands, connecting with Brown's forehead.

Swishel looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Brown is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Swishel's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Swishel's back!

Swishel tries to escape but Brown has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
Brown is striking well from the back but Swishel escapes and manages to control the positon and works his way to half guard. A much better position - the crisis is over for the time being.
Brown is just content to waste time from the top position. Swishel takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Brown wants to control from the top but Swishel keeps moving.

And that's the end of the fight!
James Brown comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Brown winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
