PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jamie Kingston (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brutas Beefcake (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Beefcake has chosen The BeefCake as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jamie Kingston!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Brutas Beefcake!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Dillan Fox and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Beefcake shoots for a double leg takedown but Kingston sprawls well. He's pushed Beefcake's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Beefcake avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Beefcake shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Kingston pinned against the cage. Kingston gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Beefcake gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Kingston to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Beefcake keeping full guard, as Kingston tries to pass.
Kingston throwing strikes but missing.
Beefcake is trying to keep Kingston in close.

Beefcake is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Beefcake is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Kingston defends well.

Kingston gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Kingston shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Beefcake napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Beefcake seems a little lost for a moment, as Kingston dominates the positioning.
Kingston tries to score with some ground and pound. Beefcake controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Beefcake tries to buck Kingston off but Kingston is having none of it.

Kingston is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Beefcake knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Beefcake is trying to control Kingston's posture but Kingston avoids it.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Beefcake with a poor takedown

and Kingston moves into the clinch.
Jamie Kingston has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brutas Beefcake.

Kingston jumps guard and drags Beefcake to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Beefcake trying to control the position from guard on top but Kingston is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Beefcake wants to get up but he can't break Kingston's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Kingston looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Kingston working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Beefcake doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Beefcake manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Kingston working a defensive guard but Beefcake manages to pass into side control anyway.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Beefcake wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Kingston, who protects the arm well.
Kingston pushes Beefcake away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Beefcake gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Kingston tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Beefcake wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Beefcake wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kingston keeps working.
Beefcake creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

Beefcake tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Beefcake has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Beefcake cracks Kingston with a big right hand but Kingston just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Kingston tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Beefcake wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Beefcake landing strikes.

Beefcake is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Kingston is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Jamie Kingston will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Beefcake shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Kingston counters with a takedown into side control.
Kingston throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Kingston is looking to take a break and control but Beefcake is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Beefcake wants to get back to his feet but Kingston drags him back down.
Kingston has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Beefcake!
Beefcake wants to control but Kingston is having none of it.
Beefcake tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Beefcake defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Kingston.

Beefcake is wriggling around trying to escape.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Beefcake is squirming around, avoiding Kingston's attempts to control the action.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Beefcake tries to hold on but Kingston postures up.

Kingston is looking for a choke. Beefcake gets to his feet with his opponent on his back and slams him to the mat. Beefcake manages to squirm out of the attempted choke and turns into his opponent's guard.

Jamie Kingston overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Kingston keeping moving, preventing Beefcake from controlling successfully.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Beefcake throws and elbow that misses. Kingston uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Beefcake's guard. Nice move by Kingston!
Beefcake is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Beefcake is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Kingston wants to pass the guard but Beefcake is keeping the position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Beefcake is trying to keep Kingston in close.

Kingston will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Kingston wants to sweep here but Beefcake controlling him for the moment.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Kingston feints and as Beefcake raises his hands in defense, Kingston changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Beefcake manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Beefcake scoring with strikes but Kingston is staying in there.
Kingston is in all sorts of trouble here.
Kingston is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Kingston tries to hold on but Beefcake pushes him away.
Beefcake lands a nice shot to the head.
Beefcake pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Beefcake avoids the attempt from Kingston to control.
The referee warns Kingston that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Beefcake moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Kingston has worked his arm free - good work by Kingston!
Kingston is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Beefcake is controlling him well.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jamie Kingston.
Well Kingston has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
