The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Williams connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Diaz scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Williams scores with a punch to the head.
Williams throws a right and a left that both miss.
Diaz misses with a straight left.

Diaz cracks Williams with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Williams looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Diaz finish him?


It looks like Pete Williams has been cut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Williams.
Williams in side control, throwing shots but Diaz defends.
Diaz is trying to control Williams's posture but Williams avoids it.
Diaz manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Williams can do anything to dispel that myth.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Williams throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Diaz was covering up waiting for the punch and Williams finishes the takedown easily into guard.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Diaz is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Diaz seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Diaz works his foot free and advances to mount.
BOOM! Diaz connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Diaz breaks from Williams's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Williams takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Williams is bucking up trying to escape but Diaz cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

That has opened up Pete Williams's cut even more.

The cut above Pete Williams's eye is starting to cause him problems now.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Pete Williams's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
