Schmidli comes to the cage accompanied by Piano Man from Billy Joel. Preston Schmidli is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ueyama takes one on the button.
Schmidli scores with a decent looking hook.

Ueyama drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Ueyama wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Schmidli, who protects the arm well.
Ueyama is looking to take a break and control but Schmidli is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Ueyama prevents Schmidli from escaping the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ueyama wants to control but Schmidli is keeping him busy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ueyama is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Schmidli's shoulder. That is not cool.
Ueyama cracks Schmidli with a big right hand but Schmidli just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Ueyama throws an elbow but Schmidli slips to the side and avoids it well.

Schmidli really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Ueyama is desperately trying to improve his position but Schmidli has a good base and remains in mount.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Schmidli tries to control but Ueyama wriggling away.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Schmidli tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Ueyama.

Ueyama looking to hit a scissor sweep but Schmidli is one step ahead there.

Ueyama pushes Schmidli off and scrambles back to his feet.
Schmidli moves in looking to clinch but Ueyama pushes him off.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Preston Schmidli will probably get the nod.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Schmidli closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Ueyama is on top in guard.
Ueyama stands and throws Schmidli's legs to the side, diving into side control.
