PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Forrest Griffin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chuck Daniels (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Griffin kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Big Punisher- Beware. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Forrest Griffin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chuck Daniels!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Robert Twigg and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Daniels throws a right and a left that both miss.
Griffin takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

Griffin fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Daniels sprawls well initially but Griffin persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Daniels connects with a nice short shot to Griffin's temple.

Daniels cracks Griffin with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Daniels wants to control the pace but Griffin is squirming around nicely.

Griffin is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Daniels scores with a couple of nice shots.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Daniels lands a nice short elbow.

Daniels looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Griffin with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Griffin wants to improve his position but Daniels is controlling well.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Daniels moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Griffin has a takedown stuffed.

Griffin lands with a hook. Daniels tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Griffin accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Daniels throws a one two combo.

Daniels scores with a one two! Griffin had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

Chuck Daniels is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Griffin has his foot on Daniels's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Daniels works his way back into a safe position though.

I would just about give that final round to Chuck Daniels.
Well Daniels has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
