PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Sydney Rain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Sobral (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jason Sobral!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Chris Downing and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sobral tries to bum rush Rain with a series of wild strikes but Rain uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Jason Sobral seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rain takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Sobral tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Rain shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Rain showed some decent athleticism there.

Rain is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Rain throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Sobral's waist but Sobral gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Rain off to one side.

Rain postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Sobral is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Rain, into his guard.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Sobral has his opponent pinned against the ropes, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Rain's face.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Sydney Rain will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Rain is stalling here. Sobral is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Rain seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Sobral has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Sydney Rain.
I think Rain has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
