Richardson's entrance music is This Calling by All That Remains. A fine choice. Nate Richardson could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Yrjo Pieru's chin.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Alan Glass and Frank Dennis.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Richardson throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Pieru has managed to clinch.

Richardson's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Richardson misses with a straight right.
Pieru shoots in but no luck this time.
Richardson tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Pieru was well out of range. Poor timing from Richardson.

Richardson goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Pieru uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Richardson.

Richardson will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pieru shoots in but no luck this time.

Richardson throws a series of punches but Pieru avoids them all with ease.
Richardson misses with the combination.

Pieru gets the takedown into side control.
Pieru cracks Richardson with a big elbow.
Richardson is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Richardson is looking for a sweep. Pieru is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Richardson has momentary wrist control but Pieru slips an elbow through the middle.

Pieru is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Richardson is controlling Pieru's posture.
Pieru postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Pieru lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Richardson wants to get back to his feet but Pieru is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Richardson manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Richardson takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Pieru wants to hold on but Richardson pushes him away.

Richardson stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.

Richardson lands a big head kick that sends Pieru tumbling to the mat! Richardson takes a step backwards and waves Pieru back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Pieru is rocked!

It looks like Yrjo Pieru has been cut.
Both fighters step back and shake their arms out. Richardson engages and cracks Pieru with a massive lead left hook - Pieru tumbles to the floor, out cold! What a shot! Richardson is delighted - all that hard work in training paid off!
