PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Christian Luther (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Perttu Peikkola (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Luther comes to the cage accompanied by Saxon - Crusader. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Paulsen Ambrosius and Aafke Stam.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

A jab-cross combination lands for Peikkola and sends Luther crashing to the mat! Peikkola follows him down to the mat - Luther regains half guard but he's not out of trouble yet!

It looks like Christian Luther has been cut.
Peikkola thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Luther's head.
Peikkola scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

Peikkola decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Peikkola throws a series of punches but Luther avoids them all with ease.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Luther tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Peikkola paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Peikkola tries to work over Luther's front leg with a kick but Luther checks it.
Luther wants to slow Peikkola down by chopping away at his legs.
Luther keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Luther explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Luther lands a jab to the head.
Peikkola looks gassed!
Peikkola tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Luther was well out of range. Poor timing from Peikkola.
Luther swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Peikkola.
Peikkola ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Luther closes the distance and clinches.

Peikkola tries to circle away but Luther has him pinned against the cage.

Luther breaks the clinch.
Peikkola defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Luther.
Luther throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Luther falls off balance throwing a combination
and Peikkola counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Peikkola dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Luther. That did some damage!
Luther is trying hard to land a takedown here. Peikkola sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Good leg kick by Peikkola there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Peikkola dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Peikkola stalks Luther and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Luther's face. Luther staggers backwards, shaken.
Peikkola lands a body shot.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Peikkola swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
The fighters circle momentarily. Peikkola darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Luther tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Peikkola lunges at Luther with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Luther's hand.
Peikkola throws a nice inside leg kick.
Peikkola lands a head shot.
Peikkola lands with a cross.

Luther is rocked!
Peikkola cracks Luther with a good jab.
Oh Luther is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Luther fails with an attempt to clinch.
Luther drops his hands momentarily. Peikkola doesn't need a second invitation, landing a shot to the temple. Luther staggers and falls to the mat and the ref dives in to save him from any more punishment. Luther doesn't seem happy with the stoppage but he was done.
