Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jeroen Heijdens!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bill Cunningham!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Heijdens closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Cunningham did well to prevent Heijdens getting side control.
Heijdens is looking to advance position but Cunningham won't allow it.
Cunningham wants to get back to full guard.

Cunningham is defending against the submission attempts here by Heijdens.

Heijdens is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Cunningham doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Heijdens.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
A nice right hand lands inside from Heijdens.
Cunningham is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Heijdens pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Cunningham looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Heijdens putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Cunningham in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body.

and Heijdens counters with a slapping leg kick.

and Heijdens counters with a three punch combo that has Cunningham backing up. Cunningham nods at Heijdens to acknowledge the strikes.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Cunningham looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Cunningham had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Heijdens is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Cunningham Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Heijdens's back instead.
Heijdens rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Cunningham tries to pass the half guard into mount. Heijdens knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Heijdens swings for the body but Cunningham moves out of range.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Jeroen Heijdens will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


A shot to the body from Heijdens misses

and Cunningham counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Heijdens is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - an gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt.
Heijdens is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Heijdens takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Heijdens looking for the choke but no joy.
I really don't envy Cunningham right now.
Cunningham trying to control the position but Heijdens manages to sink in the hooks.

Heijdens is looking to finish with some ground and pound!

You can see the frustration on Cunningham's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
