Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Mariano Barbossa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roysten Davids (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mariano Barbossa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Roysten Davids!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Paulsen Ambrosius and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barbossa looks to throw the jab but Davids is out of range.

Barbossa looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Davids punching from the bottom - just letting Barbossa know he's still in a fight.
Davids looking for a sweep. Not yet Davids, not yet.
Davids is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Barbossa throwing strikes from guard but Davids blocks nicely.

Barbossa is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

Barbossa is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Barbossa wants to stand but Davids has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Davids had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Barbossa is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Davids Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Barbossa's back instead.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Barbossa is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.
Davids has the hooks in. Barbossa is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
Barbossa is trying to get back to his feet but Davids has full control of the position and if anything, Barbossa has just worked his way into a worse spot.
Barbossa manages to reverse the position and now he's in Davids's guard. Nice work there by Barbossa.
Barbossa will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Barbossa decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Barbossa rushes Davids and presses him up against the cage.

Barbossa gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Davids regains guard.

Barbossa has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Barbossa has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Davids is proving hard to escape from.
Barbossa distracts Davids with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Barbossa with a flurry of punches that miss.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Barbossa is looking to stand up but Davids won't let him.
Davids utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Davids fails with an attempt to clinch.

Barbossa closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Davids did well to prevent Barbossa getting side control.
Davids pushes Barbossa off looking to stand but Barbossa dives back in and keeps control.
Barbossa really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Barbossa is keen to just control but Davids is a slippery customer.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Davids is trying to maintain the position but Barbossa is very close to passing his half guard.
Davids wants to improve his position but Barbossa is controlling well.

Davids looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Davids looks gassed!

Davids actively working from the bottom here.
Barbossa winds up and cracks Davids with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Davids is looking to control Barbossa's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Davids avoid being mounted?

Barbossa escapes and gets back to his feet.
Barbossa lands with a cross.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Barbossa closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Davids to the mat! Davids manages to get full guard.
Davids keeping moving, preventing Barbossa from controlling successfully.
Barbossa is working Davids over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Barbossa wants to control from the top but Davids keeps moving.

Barbossa drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Barbossa jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Barbossa stands and steps away. Davids gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Barbossa throws a head kick but Davids moves out of range.
Barbossa scores with a jab to the body.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Davids tries to keep at a distance but Barbossa has taken the fight into the clinch.

Barbossa pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Barbossa lands with a slapping head kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mariano Barbossa dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!

Davids with a lazy takedown attempt

and Barbossa counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Barbossa lands a nice short elbow.
Barbossa blocks the strikes from Davids.
Barbossa working over Davids with some ground and pound. Davids looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Barbossa drops an elbow to the side of Davids's head.


Davids is rocked!

Barbossa seems to be looking for submissions.
Davids is still in real trouble! Can Barbossa finish him?
Barbossa trying to control from half guard but Davids is working away.
Davids wants to control the action here but instead Barbossa manages to pass to full mount!
Davids seems to have recovered his senses.
Davids is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Barbossa throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Davids has his hands clasped together but Barbossa breaks the hold and Davids is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Barbossa!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:04 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Mariano Barbossa!
