PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between White Ranger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jon Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jon Jones will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, White Ranger!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jon Jones!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones works Ranger's body with a nice hook.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Jones gets underhooks to prevent Ranger's takedown attempt.
Ranger tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Ranger tries to pull guard but Jones holds him up against the cage and eventually Ranger drops back down to his feet.

A frustrated look appears on Jones's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Ranger changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Jones tries to avoid it but Ranger manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Jones to the ground. Jones escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Jones pushes Ranger off looking to stand but Ranger dives back in and keeps control.

Jones tries to kick Ranger off in order to stand up. Ranger Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.

Ranger is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Jones has escaped the position, nice work there.
Ranger is breathing heavily.

Ranger is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Jones is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Ranger wants to lay and pray for a moment but Jones keeps working.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jones can do anything to dispel that myth.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Ranger.
White Ranger seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Ranger takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Jones moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Ranger closes this distance looking for a takedown but Jones circles away.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Jones, as that shot connected.
Jones cracks Ranger with a right hand to the side of the head.

Jones's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Ranger dives in and grabs Jones's left leg, looking for a takedown. Jones pushes down on Ranger's head and hops out.
Ranger looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Jones is fending him off so far but Ranger persists. Nope, Jones circles away and we're back to standing.
Ranger clinches but Jones breaks the clinch
and Jones cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Jones lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

and Jones counters with a nice body shot.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Ranger misses with a takedown attempt
and Jones counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Ranger has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Jones finds it's way round the side to connect with Ranger's head.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

White Ranger has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
