PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Kev Moore (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Crocker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Crocker comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Britney Spears - Gimme More kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kev Moore!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chris Crocker!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Stewart Dunkirk and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Crocker shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Moore but Moore pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Moore just misses with a punch to the body.
Crocker checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Crocker.
Moore misses the shot to the body.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Moore misses with an attempted mid kick.
Crocker shoots for a double leg takedown but Moore sprawls well. He's pushed Crocker's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Kev Moore has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chris Crocker.
Moore loads up on a big right hand but Crocker slips the punch.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Moore attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Moore tries to land a front kick but Crocker steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Moore defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Crocker.
Moore tries to close the distance and clinch but Crocker swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Moore throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Crocker wants to clinch
and Moore counters with a left to the body.
Moore looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Moore throws a looping overhand right but Crocker ducks down to avoid it.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Moore throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Moore fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Crocker manages to avoid it.
Crocker with a poor takedown
and Moore counters with a left to the body.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Moore misses with a wild body shot.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Crocker scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Moore wants to control but Crocker postures up.
Sloppy strikes there by Crocker.
Crocker creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Moore sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Moore regains half guard.
Crocker wants to lay and pray for a moment but Moore keeps working.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Crocker in particular looking to stall.
Moore is trying to maintain the position but Crocker is very close to passing his half guard.
Moore avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Crocker.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Moore keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Crocker thows a huge punch but Moore dodges it nicely.
Moore is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Crocker fails with the takedown
and Moore counters with a two punch combo.
Crocker has his takedown stuffed
and Moore counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Crocker thinking.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Crocker shoots in and bounces Moore off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Moore is trying to control the position but Crocker postures up.
Crocker working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Moore looking to control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Moore is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Moore bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Crocker's guard.
Moore looking to sit in guard and control but Crocker gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Crocker trying to control the position from guard on top but Moore is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Crocker thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Moore looking for a sweep. Not yet Moore, not yet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chris Crocker showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Moore ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Crocker moves away.
Moore tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Crocker was well out of range. Poor timing from Moore.

and Crocker counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Moore's guard now.

Moore wants to sweep here but Crocker controlling him for the moment.
Moore is trying to control the position but Crocker postures up.
Moore is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Crocker is controlling him.
Crocker wants to control from the top but Moore keeps moving.
Crocker scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Moore has control of Crocker's left arm, preventing Crocker from doing any damage.
Crocker loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Moore tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Crocker trying to control the position from guard on top but Moore is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Moore utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Moore is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Moore looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Crocker puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Moore regains full guard. Nicely done.
Moore tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Crocker must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Crocker content to stall in guard here.

and Crocker counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Chris Crocker comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Crocker has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
