PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Horus Pinker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Arnie Blankman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Blankman has chosen Oh No You Didn't! as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Horus Pinker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Arnie Blankman!
The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pinker fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Horus Pinker seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Pinker shoots for a takedown but Blankman saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Pinker shoots in but Blankman avoids the takedown attempt easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Horus Pinker. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Blankman drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Pinker shoots in and drives through. Blankman sprawls well.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Pinker.

Blankman is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Pinker's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Pinker has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Pinker shoots in for a takedown but Blankman shows good takedown defense.

Ouch! a nice leg kick from Blankman, right into the meat.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Pinker tries to hold on but Blankman pushes him away.
Pinker is looking to improve his position but Blankman isn't that keen on the idea.

Pinker can't escape the position.
Blankman throwing strikes here but Pinker is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Blankman trying to control but Pinker is having none of it.

We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Blankman has eaten all the pies!
Pinker tries to reverse the position but Blankman maintains control.

Blankman lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Blankman is just content to waste time from the top position. Pinker takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

Blankman doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Blankman can't keep his opponent in guard - Pinker advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Pinker is looking for a kimura but Blankman is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Pinker to get the leverage.
Blankman wants to improve his position but Pinker is controlling well.
Pinker working over Blankman with some ground and pound. Blankman looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Pinker is nestled in close to Blankman, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Pinker slips a nice elbow through Blankman's hands, connecting with Blankman's forehead.

Pinker wants to control but Blankman is keeping him busy.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

and Blankman counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Pinker is on top in guard.
Blankman manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Arnie Blankman showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Pinker is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Blankman is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Blankman has escaped and now he's on top!

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

and Blankman holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

I would just about give that final round to Arnie Blankman.
Well Blankman has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
