PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Aoki Matsumoto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Takanori Gomi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gomi has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Takanori Gomi is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Takanori Gomi!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Yukihiro Shimada and Yasuomi Hirokawa.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gomi tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Matsumoto swivels and escapes.
Gomi looks gassed!
Gomi is trying hard to land a takedown here. Matsumoto sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Matsumoto closes the distance and pushes Gomi back into the cage.

Matsumoto is trying to trip Gomi. He has hold of a leg but Gomi is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Matsumoto persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Gomi is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Matsumoto drops back looking for a leg! Gomi is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Gomi manages to kick Matsumoto off! Matsumoto jumps back into Gomi's guard.

Matsumoto thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Matsumoto drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Matsumoto seems to have locked his on tight now - Gomi screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Matsumoto, as he picks up the win!
