Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Riku Tiirismaa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vasiliy Lebedenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Riku Tiirismaa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Vasiliy Lebedenko!
The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Ivan Kurochkin and Igor Prikhodko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tiirismaa throws a leg kick that misses.
Lebedenko tries to close the distance and clinch but Tiirismaa swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Lebedenko shoots in but Tiirismaa avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Nice sprawl there from Tiirismaa as Lebedenko shoots in.

Tiirismaa closes the distance and pushes Lebedenko back into the cage.
Lebedenko tries to break free but Tiirismaa pushes him back against the cage.
Lebedenko is trying to drag Tiirismaa to the mat but Tiirismaa just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Riku Tiirismaa has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Vasiliy Lebedenko.
Lebedenko wants a takedown.
The referee is keeping an eye on Tiirismaa - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Lebedenko has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Tiirismaa is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Lebedenko is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Tiirismaa gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Tiirismaa is looking to regain half guard here but Lebedenko keeps moving and retains side control.

Lebedenko stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Tiirismaa swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Tiirismaa is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Tiirismaa tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Lebedenko got a little sloppy there for a moment and Tiirismaa has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Lebedenko has managed to get both his arms back between Tiirismaa's legs - danger averted.

Tiirismaa bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Lebedenko's guard.

Lebedenko throws a strike but Tiirismaa rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Lebedenko wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Tiirismaa throws a strike but Lebedenko rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Lebedenko stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Tiirismaa swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Tiirismaa has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Lebedenko has passed into side control.
Tiirismaa is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Tiirismaa manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Tiirismaa throws a series of punches but Lebedenko moves out of range.
Lebedenko fails with a takedown attempt.

Tiirismaa drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Lebedenko manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Tiirismaa has Lebedenko in his guard.
Lebedenko is pushing down on Tiirismaa's leg trying to pass to half guard. Tiirismaa is fighting to maintain full guard but Lebedenko has managed to sneak the leg through.

Tiirismaa is pressing down on Lebedenko's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Tiirismaa is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Lebedenko throws and elbow that misses. Tiirismaa uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Lebedenko's guard. Nice move by Tiirismaa!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Tiirismaa is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Lebedenko has managed to free his arm - good work.

Tiirismaa is looking to take a break and control but Lebedenko is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Tiirismaa is working for a kimura from half guard. He's really concentrating on the hold and it's allowed Lebedenko to slip a leg under and get back to full guard.

Lebedenko might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Tiirismaa kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Lebedenko gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Tiirismaa to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Tiirismaa drops back, looking for a kneebar! Lebedenko looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Lebedenko looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Lebedenko!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Riku Tiirismaa.
Well Tiirismaa has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
