PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tom OBrien (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ed Gein (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

OBrien darts in and clinches Gein up against the cage.

Gein digs a right hand into OBrien's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on OBrien's gas tank.

Gein turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Gein manages to end up in side control.
OBrien on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if OBrien tries to get out of the position.

Gein is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but OBrien is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Gein thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
OBrien pushes Gein away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Gein gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Gein goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, OBrien rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Gein's guard! Nice work there by OBrien!

Gein escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. OBrien gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Gein had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. OBrien is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Gein Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take OBrien's back instead.
OBrien is trying to stand back up.

Gein has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, OBrien has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Gein is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. OBrien is defending well though. Gein let's go of the attempt for now.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

OBrien manages to stand up with Gein still on his back. Eventually Gein drops to his feet and we're back in the standing position.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Gein.

OBrien doesn't manage to clinch there - Gein circles away.
Gein shoots for a double leg takedown but OBrien sprawls well. He's pushed Gein's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

OBrien closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Gein to the mat! Gein manages to get full guard.

Gein has his foot on OBrien's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. OBrien works his way back into a safe position though.
