PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Robert Segota (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Badr Hari (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Robert Segota!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Badr Hari!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Richard Clark and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hari tries a head kick but it misses.

Segota shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Hari is trying to defend but Segota finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Segota is just content to waste time from the top position. Hari takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Segota pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Hari is keeping the position for now.
Segota trying to control but Hari is working from the bottom.
Segota pushes down on Hari's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Hari wants to get back to his feet.

Segota is looking for a kimura but Hari is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Segota to get the leverage.
Hari pushes Segota off looking to stand but Segota dives back in and keeps control.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Hari kicks off Segota and gets to his feet.
Hari looks for the body kick but Segota saw that one coming.
Hari throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Hari looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Badr Hari is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Segota shoots in for a takedown but Hari shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Segota shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Segota is trying to control. Hari wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Hari kicks off Segota and gets to his feet.

and Hari counters with a flying knee. Nice.
Hari lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Hari throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Segota's head.
Hari pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Hari misses with a head kick.

Hari gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Hari wants to stand and escape but Segota is having none of it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Hari gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Segota to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Segota looking to sit in guard and control but Hari gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Segota is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Hari wants to stand but Segota has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Segota wants to stand up but Hari is controlling him.

Segota seems keen to control Hari's posture.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Segota tries to land a sweep but no joy.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Segota shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Hari as he avoids it easily.

Segota fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Hari plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Hari throws a head kick but Segota moves out of range.

A close second round but Badr Hari will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Segota closes the distance and clinches.

Segota is trying to trip Hari. He has hold of a leg but Hari is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Segota persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Segota won't allow Hari to get back to his feet.
Segota looking to sit in guard and control but Hari gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Hari wants to stand but Segota is controlling his posture from full guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Segota is working an open guard so Hari takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Hari fails to land with a series of punches.
Hari throws a head kick that misses.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Hari tries to clinch up but Segota circles away and keeps his distance.
Hari misses with an attempted mid kick.
Hari displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Segota.
Segota moves out of range as Hari throws a body kick.
Segota avoids the head kick by Hari.
Hari tries to clinch there but Segota circles away.
Segota shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Hari closes the distance and pushes Segota back into the cage.
Segota pressing his opponent against the cage.
Segota has Hari pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Hari manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Segota changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Hari fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Segota looks for a takedown but Hari sprawls well.

Hari throws a sloppy head kick and Segota moves out of range easily.
Nice body kick there by Hari.
Hari looks for the body kick but Segota saw that one coming.
Robert Segota is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Hari moves into range and clinches up with Segota.
Hari trying to land knees to the body.

Hari breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Segota takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Hari tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Segota shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Hari as he jumps to the side.
Hari tries to clinch up.
A right-left combo lands from Hari.

And that's the end of the fight!
Badr Hari comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Hari has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
