The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gates throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Torres.

Torres is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Gates asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Torres has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Gates can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Gates stalks Torres and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Torres's face. Torres staggers backwards, shaken.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Gates got a little sloppy there for a moment and Torres has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Gates has managed to get both his arms back between Torres's legs - danger averted.
