PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jon Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mickey Richards (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jon Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mickey Richards!
The judges for this bout are , and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Jones shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Richards as he avoids it easily.
Richards wants to clinch.
Richards should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Richards tries to clinch up.
Richards takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

and Jones counters with a straight right hand.

Jones thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Richards keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Richards really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jones. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Jones stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Jones wants it to stay on the feet.

Richards gets a clinch.
Jones goes for a takedown attempt but Richards pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jon Jones. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Richards has managed to clinch.

Richards is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Jones can't fight it off and eventually Richards manages to take the fight to the floor. Jones looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Richards throws and elbow that misses. Jones uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Richards's guard. Nice move by Jones!
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Jones feints and then cracks Richards's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Richards down.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Jones, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
