The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Akiyama slips under a jab from Jerk.
Akiyama shoots in and drives through. Jerk sprawls well.
Jerk throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Jerk throws a jab when Akiyama was well out of range.
Jerk fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Circle Jerk seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jerk connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Akiyama shoots for a double leg takedown but Jerk sprawls well. He's pushed Akiyama's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Jerk throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Akiyama fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Jerk sprawls well initially but Akiyama persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
