The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sheffield shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Lawsoner sprawls well. Lawsoner wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Sheffield gets slowly back to his feet.
Sheffield changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Lawsoner tries to avoid it but Sheffield manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Lawsoner to the ground. Lawsoner escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Sheffield gets the takedown into side control.

Sheffield swings around for an armbar but Lawsoner sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Sheffield's guard.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Lawsoner has eaten all the pies!

Sheffield looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Lawsoner is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Lawsoner got a little sloppy there for a moment and Sheffield has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Lawsoner has managed to get both his arms back between Sheffield's legs - danger averted.
Lawsoner sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Sheffield's guard.

Lawsoner wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Sheffield, who protects the arm well.
Sheffield is trying to control Lawsoner's posture but Lawsoner avoids it.
Sheffield manages to get back to half guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That was a close round but I would say that Bronson Sheffield will probably get the nod.

Sheffield drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Sheffield jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Sheffield drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Sheffield seems to have locked his on tight now - Lawsoner screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Sheffield, as he picks up the win!
