PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kimmo Kilpikonna (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roger Hansen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Hansen's choice of entrance music: Problem Child. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Arvi Lind and Johanna Lukiainen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A punch combination from Kilpikonna misses.
Kilpikonna looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Hansen is trying to force a seperation but Kilpikonna has the dominant position.

Hansen wants the takedown. Kilpikonna is fighting it off but Hansen persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Kilpikonna's guard against the cage.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Hansen breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Hansen takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Hansen dodges the punch combination from Kilpikonna.
Kilpikonna throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
No joy there for Kilpikonna, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Kilpikonna fails with the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kimmo Kilpikonna. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Hansen moves into the clinch.
Hansen gets underhooks to prevent Kilpikonna's takedown attempt.
Kilpikonna is breathing heavily.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hansen accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Hansen lands a couple of elbows.
Hansen thows a big elbow that misses.
Hansen postures up in Kilpikonna's guard and throws a big left but Kilpikonna blocks it.
Hansen trying to control the position from guard on top but Kilpikonna is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Hansen stands up from Kilpikonna's guard - Hansen perhaps looking for a knockout.
Hansen bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Hansen takes the fight into the clinch.

Hansen breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Hansen tries to clinch but Kilpikonna moves out of range.
Hansen shoots in but Kilpikonna avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Hansen bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Hansen decides to stand back up.
Hansen takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

Hansen tries to clinch but Kilpikonna is having none of it.
Kilpikonna throws a right and a left that Hansen avoids nicely.

Hansen forces Kilpikonna back against the cage and clinches.
Hansen tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Hansen lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Kilpikonna.
Hansen throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Kilpikonna blocks it with crossed arms.
Kilpikonna drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Hansen gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Hansen decides to pull guard.
Kilpikonna loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Hansen bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Kilpikonna's guard.

Hansen gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Hansen goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Hansen shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Kilpikonna is trying to defend but Hansen finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Hansen has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Kilpikonna finds it's way round the side to connect with Hansen's head.

Hansen scores a nice knee to the body.
Hansen jumps guard but Kilpikonna stands there with Hansen around his waist. Hansen gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Kilpikonna fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Hansen avoids it really well and circles away.

Roger Hansen showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Hansen breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

A left and a right from Hansen both land. Nice combination.

Hansen forces Kilpikonna back against the cage and clinches.
Hansen tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Kilpikonna smiles and moves away.
Hansen stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Hansen wants it to stay on the feet.

And that's the end of the fight!
Roger Hansen comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Hansen has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
