PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Riley Quinn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nameless One (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Quinn might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Living in Sin. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Riley Quinn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Nameless One!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

One clinches.
Quinn really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

One pulls Quinn into guard.
One wants to sweep but no luck.
One trying to keep a closed guard but Quinn is proving a slippery customer.
One striking off his back but it's not causing Quinn any problems.

One looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Quinn stands up and waves to One to follow him.
Quinn shoots for a double leg takedown but One sprawls well. He's pushed Quinn's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Quinn lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but One circles away quickly and effectively.
One tries for a takedown but Quinn circles away easily
and Quinn counters with a three punch combo that has One backing up. One nods at Quinn to acknowledge the strikes.
Quinn shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has One pinned against the cage. One gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

That's one minute gone in the round.
One with a poor takedown
and Quinn counters with an inside leg kick.

Quinn gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Quinn has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but One regains guard immediately.
One keeping moving, preventing Quinn from controlling successfully.
One trying to control the position.

One working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Quinn doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Quinn manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
One has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Quinn wants to stand but One has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

One is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

One throws his legs up looking for a submission but Quinn uses it to pass to side control.

One throws a couple of punches but he's in a bad position and they don't land.
One takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
One is not content to let Quinn control the position.
One can't do much from the bottom here.

Quinn decides to stand back up. Quinn steps back and let's One get back to his feet.

Quinn throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. One was covering up waiting for the punch and Quinn finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Quinn thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Quinn is breathing heavily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Quinn is looking to advance position but One has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
One wants to take his opponent's back but Quinn doesn't allow it.

Quinn defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from One.
Quinn has given up his back.

One is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

One patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here?

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

One looking for the RNC.
One struggling to land strikes to the head as Quinn covers up.

One is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Quinn defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

One looking for the RNC.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Quinn trying to get back to his feet but One is in full control for now.
One tries to get the hooks in deep but Quinn pushed the leg off.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Riley Quinn dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Quinn shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has One pinned against the cage. One gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Quinn shoots in for a takedown but One shows good takedown defense.
One fails with the takedown
and Quinn makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. One really felt that one!
One dives in and grabs Quinn's left leg, looking for a takedown. Quinn pushes down on One's head and hops out.

and One moves into the clinch.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

One jumps guard and drags Quinn to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

One is looking for a triangle but Quinn pushes his legs off easily.

One working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Quinn doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Quinn manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Quinn stands and throws One's legs to the side, diving into side control.
One tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Quinn wants to control but One is keeping him busy.
One wants to control but Quinn postures up.
One is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Quinn stands up and we're back to a striking position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
One misses with a takedown attempt

and Quinn counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Riley Quinn has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nameless One.
Quinn is looking to stand up but One won't let him.
One keeping moving, preventing Quinn from controlling successfully.
One is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
One manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Quinn tries to hold on but One postures up.
One looking to control but Quinn is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

One is working for a guillotine from mount but Quinn frees his head quite easily.

One jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Quinn manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Quinn bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
One ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Quinn moves away.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Quinn throws a leg kick but One sees it coming and moves out of range.
One looks to clinch

and Quinn counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
One trying to hold on to Quinn's head to control him but Quinn postures up.
Quinn wants to control but One is keeping him busy.

One looking for submissions off his back.
One is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Quinn's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Quinn's back!

One working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

One working for the choke.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Riley Quinn dominated that second round.
That's time! Quinn's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Quinn throws a head kick that misses.
Quinn pulls out of a head kick attempt.
One swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Nice sprawl there from Quinn as One shoots in.
One fails with a takedown attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and One counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by One.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

One drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and One jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Quinn looking to control.

One wants to pass the guard but Quinn is keeping the position.
One sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Quinn's guard.
Quinn is trying to stand up here but One is controlling him well.
One is trying to control. Quinn wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
One is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Riley Quinn overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

One is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Quinn doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time One.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

One has Quinn up against the cage in a clinch.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Quinn has dropped down and is working for a takedown. One is trying to keep an underhook but Quinn manages to get the takedown into half guard.

One is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Quinn pulls his head out easily.
One misses with some strikes from the bottom.

One looking for submissions off his back.
Quinn wants to stand up but One has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Quinn throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Quinn will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
One manages to get to full guard.
Quinn trying to control the position from guard on top but One is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Quinn has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

One is trying to control the position but Quinn postures up.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
No luck for One with that takedown attempt.

and Quinn counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Quinn knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for One on the ground.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Riley Quinn.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Quinn, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
