Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Nick Slick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pedro Burgos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Burgos has chosen Stronger as his entrance music. The key to victory for Nick Slick has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Nick Slick!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Pedro Burgos!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Steve Smith and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Slick throws a leg kick which misses Burgos's front leg but catches the back leg as Burgos tries to avoid it.

Slick closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Burgos is letting Slick control him for a moment.
Slick wants to control but Burgos is keeping him busy.
Burgos is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Burgos wants to control but Slick postures up.

Burgos manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Slick is looking for a sweep. Burgos is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Burgos takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Burgos is looking for a kimura but Slick is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Burgos to get the leverage.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Burgos has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Slick finds it's way round the side to connect with Burgos's head.
Nick Slick seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Slick shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Burgos as he jumps to the side.
Burgos shoots in looking for a takedown. Slick tries to sprawl out of it but Burgos keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Slick manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Burgos shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Slick's guard.
Slick is adopting a defensive guard.
Burgos thows a big elbow that misses.
Slick avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Burgos postures up in Slick's guard and throws a big left but Slick blocks it.

Slick looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Burgos accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Burgos is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Burgos chips away with some ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Slick has control of Burgos's left arm, preventing Burgos from doing any damage.

Slick lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Burgos!

Burgos is trying desperately to improve position.
Slick has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Burgos's face.
Slick takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Burgos really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Burgos is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Nick Slick will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Burgos goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Slick rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Burgos's guard! Nice work there by Slick!

Slick controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Burgos has control of Slick's left arm, preventing Slick from doing any damage.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Burgos is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Burgos takes a shot to the body in his stride.
No joy there for Slick, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Slick moves in looking to clinch but Burgos pushes him off.
Slick tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Burgos paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Burgos shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Slick counters with a low kick, right behind Burgos 's knee.

Nick Slick is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Slick tries a head kick but it misses.
No luck for Burgos with that takedown attempt.
Nick Slick has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Pedro Burgos.
Slick looks to land a combination but Burgos avoids it well.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Slick connects with a high kick.

and Slick counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Slick.

Slick can't find room to land a body shot as Burgos controls the action.
Slick has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Burgos avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Slick drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Burgos gets the underhooks and prevents it.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



Burgos shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Burgos was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Burgos is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Slick has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Slick!

Burgos is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

I think Slick has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
