Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between nate towles (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thaddeus Reese (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Reese comes into a darkened arena with his song building. BAMA Boyz-Sweet Home Alabama kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice jab there from Reese.
Reese stuffs the takedown attempt from towles. towles gets slowly back to his feet.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Reese throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

A decent looking body kick lands there for Reese.
Reese lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

towles shoots in looking for a takedown. Reese tries to sprawl out of it but towles keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Reese manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Reese lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

Reese smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Reese ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Reese cracks a nice hook into towles's ribs.
towles tries to score a power double leg takedown but Reese sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten towles somewhat.

Reese throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Reese thows a body shot but no joy.

Reese lands a really nice looking cross but towles seems unphased.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Reese displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as towles throws out the jab.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

towles wants to take Reese's back but he can't do it this time.

towles is working for a guillotine from mount but Reese frees his head quite easily.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Reese is controlling an arm, preventing towles from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.

towles looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Reese is trying to escape the mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

towles is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Reese has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Reese's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

towles has control of Reese's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Reese regains control of the situation pretty easily.
You get the feeling that Reese really doesn't like being in this position too much.

towles is going olschool here, as he tries to force Reese to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Reese shrugs it off.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Reese is squirming around, avoiding towles's attempts to control the action.

towles moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Reese has worked his arm free - good work by Reese!

towles wants to work for an arm triangle but Reese is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Reese is trying to stand up here but towles is controlling him well.
Reese really doesn't want to stay on the ground with towles. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

towles shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Reese but Reese pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Reese leaves towles with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
