PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Alexandre Ramos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rodrigo Sanchez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alexandre Ramos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Rodrigo Sanchez!
The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Fedor Mirinova and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sanchez feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Ramos is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Sanchez throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Ramos works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sanchez trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Sanchez looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Sanchez drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Ramos dives on top into guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Sanchez has control of Ramos's left arm, preventing Ramos from doing any damage.
Ramos will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Sanchez lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Ramos!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Ramos is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

Sanchez is standing up, even though he is in mount.

Sanchez moves into the clinch.
Ramos really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Sanchez pulls guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sanchez throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Sanchez seems keen to control Ramos's posture.
Ramos is breathing heavily.
Sanchez is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Ramos is fighting to break Sanchez's control of his arms but Sanchez is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Ramos has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Ramos stops Sanchez from standing up.
Ramos postures up.

Sanchez is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Ramos tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Sanchez smiles and moves away.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Ramos throws a hook but Sanchez avoids it easily.

Sanchez scores a takedown into full mount!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rodrigo Sanchez dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Sanchez moves into the clinch successfully.
Sanchez has Ramos pressed against the cage.

Sanchez manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Sanchez looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Sanchez is looking to sweep but instead, Ramos has passed into half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Ramos tries to stand but his arm is trapped.

Sanchez moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Sanchez is pulling down on Ramos's head. It's preventing any offense from Ramos, at least for the moment.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Sanchez is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Ramos rolls with it to try and escape but Sanchez cranks on the arm and Ramos is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:02 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Rodrigo Sanchez!
