Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Fadden!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dwight Grant!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Yves DeLean and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fadden misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Fadden tries to clinch there but Grant circles away.

Fadden scores a takedown into full mount!
Grant is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Grant is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Grant wants to hold on but Fadden pushes him away.

Fadden moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Grant has worked his arm free - good work by Grant!
Grant manages to work his way to half guard, despite Fadden's best efforts.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Grant is defending against the submission attempts here by Fadden.
Grant missing with punches from the bottom.
Grant wants to improve his position but Fadden is controlling well.

Fadden is working for a kimura but Grant is defending it quite comfortably.
Fadden wants to free his trapped foot but Grant is holding on for dear life with his legs.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Fadden throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Fadden is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Grant defends it well.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Grant shoots and misses

and Fadden counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Grant!
Fadden is breathing heavily.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Grant flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.
Grant slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.

Fadden seems to be looking for submissions.
Grant landing a few short strikes.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Grant controlling the position well.
Grant wants to control but Fadden is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Grant might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Fadden kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Grant makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Fadden fails with the takedown
and Grant connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Grant lands with a right that hurts Fadden. Fadden looks to clinch but Grant throws a short knee that drops Fadden. This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:04 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punch and Knee). Dwight Grant!
