Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jesse Kye (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Phil Fortune Jr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jesse Kye!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Phil Fortune Jr!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Fortune Jr gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Kye tries to free his leg and advance position but Fortune Jr is retaining full guard.
Kye throwing strikes from guard but Fortune Jr blocks nicely.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fortune Jr wants to sweep but no luck.
Kye has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Fortune Jr controls Kye momentarily but Kye frees himself.
Kye looking to pass the guard.
Kye slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Kye wants to control from the top but Fortune Jr keeps moving.
Kye looking to sit in guard and control but Fortune Jr gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Fortune Jr trying to control but Kye is working from the bottom.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.

Kye instigates a clinch.
Fortune Jr is trying to stall.
Kye has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Fortune Jr avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Fortune Jr managing to block the knees to the body from Kye.
Fortune Jr wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Kye has him pressed against the cage.
Fortune Jr tries to break the clinch but Kye is controlling the position.
Kye prevents the takedown attempt.

Kye breaks the clinch.
Fortune Jr misses with a few strikes there.

Kye gets the takedown into side control.
Kye wants to control but Fortune Jr is keeping him busy.

Kye stands up and beckons Fortune Jr to his feet.

Kye wants to lay and pray for a moment but Fortune Jr keeps working.
Kye misses with the ground and pound.
Kye trying to control the position but Fortune Jr is working away.
Fortune Jr wants to get back to his feet but Kye drags him back down.
Fortune Jr is looking for a sweep.

Kye wants to lay and pray for a moment but Fortune Jr keeps working.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Kye closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Kye is breathing heavily.
Kye is looking to take a break and control but Fortune Jr is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Kye decides to stand back up. Kye steps back and let's Fortune Jr get back to his feet.
Fortune Jr fails with an attempt to clinch.

Kye shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Kye missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Fortune Jr working a defensive guard here.

Kye gets to his feet - Fortune Jr follows without any prompting.
Kye wants to clinch up but Fortune Jr keeps it at a distance.
Kye shoots in but no luck this time.
Fortune Jr punishes Kye's body with a nice straight punch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kye throws a nice looking combination but Fortune Jr bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Fortune Jr stalks Kye and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Kye's face. Kye staggers backwards, shaken.

Kye darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Fortune Jr should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Kye throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Fortune Jr is looking to improve his position.
Fortune Jr taking some punishment here, with Kye in his half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Kye is trying to work for a kimura but Fortune Jr is defending well.

Kye stands up and beckons Fortune Jr to join him on the feet.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Kye feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jesse Kye dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Fortune Jr gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Kye trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Jesse Kye overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Fortune Jr can't keep his opponent in guard - Kye advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Fortune Jr is staying active underneath Kye, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Fortune Jr wants to get back to his feet.
Kye wants to control but Fortune Jr is keeping him busy.
Kye not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Fortune Jr tries to clinch there but Kye circles away.

Kye closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Kye lands in his opponent's guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kye tries to stand but Fortune Jr is controlling from the bottom.
Kye thows a big elbow that misses.
Kye wants to control from the top but Fortune Jr keeps moving.

Fortune Jr is looking for a triangle but Kye pushes his legs off easily.
Fortune Jr wants to stand but Kye is controlling the position.
Fortune Jr keeping moving, preventing Kye from controlling successfully.

Fortune Jr is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Kye rolls with it to try and escape but Fortune Jr cranks on the arm and Kye is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
