Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Derek Patterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jose Sanchez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Derek Patterson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jose Sanchez!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Elvis Blanc and William Peck.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Patterson swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Sanchez shoots in looking for a takedown. Patterson tries to sprawl out of it but Sanchez keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Patterson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Patterson rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Sanchez moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Patterson fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Sanchez checks it well.

Sanchez looking for a takedown.

Sanchez has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Patterson regains guard immediately.
Sanchez preventing the sweep.
Sanchez really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Patterson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Patterson keeping moving, preventing Sanchez from controlling successfully.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Patterson is working an open guard so Sanchez takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Patterson is looking to chop away at Sanchez's legs.
Patterson misses with the combination.
Patterson lands a jab-cross combination.
Some wild striking there from Patterson.
Sanchez checks the leg kick nicely there.

Sanchez feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Patterson has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Sanchez off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Patterson closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Patterson lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Patterson fails to land with a series of punches.
Patterson scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Sanchez shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Derek Patterson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jose Sanchez.
Sanchez looks gassed!

Patterson digs a good hook to Sanchez's body.
Sanchez takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Patterson lands a head shot.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Sanchez is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Patterson.

Sanchez is rocked!
Patterson misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Patterson tries for a takedown but Sanchez circles away easily

and Sanchez counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Patterson's guard now.

Sanchez avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Sanchez trying to control but Patterson is working from the bottom.
Sanchez looking to sit in guard and control but Patterson gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Sanchez can't keep his opponent in guard - Patterson advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Sanchez is trying to control but can't.
Patterson working over Sanchez with some ground and pound. Sanchez looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.

Patterson seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Sanchez is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
