The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Simons III wants to clinch.
Simons III tries for a takedown but Gentles sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Gentles tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Simons III drives through and clinches with Gentles against the cage.
Gentles breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
John Simons III seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Simons III drops back looking for a leg! Gentles is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Gentles manages to kick Simons III off! Simons III jumps back into Gentles's guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Gentles wants to stand and escape but Simons III is having none of it.

Gentles shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Gentles was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

and Gentles counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Simons III has momentary wrist control but Gentles slips an elbow through the middle.

Despite being in the dominant position, Stephan Gentles just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Gentles really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Simons III. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Stephan Gentles comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Gentles has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
