The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Astyages throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Poundstone avoids the body shot from Astyages.

Poundstone closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Poundstone lands in his opponent's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Astyages manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Poundstone manages to get himself to full guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Poundstone closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Astyages did well to prevent Poundstone getting side control.

Poundstone would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Poundstone wants to pass the guard but Astyages is keeping the position.

Poundstone has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Astyages to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Poundstone is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Astyages pulls down on the head and he's put Poundstone to sleep! This one is all over!
