The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Madden tries to clinch up.
Madden fails in his attempt to clinch.

Madden moves into range and clinches up with Starksson.
Starksson prevents Madden from breaking the clinch.
Madden has had enough of the clinch but Starksson keeps him there for the moment.
Starksson tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Madden just stands there and leans against the cage.

Madden avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Madden tries to stand but Starksson is controlling from the bottom.

Starksson had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Madden is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Starksson Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Madden's back instead.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Starksson controlling the position well here. Madden rolled but Starksson kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.

Madden manages to stand up with Starksson still on his back. Eventually Starksson drops to his feet and we're back in the standing position.

Starksson shoots in and bounces Madden off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Starksson has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Madden tries to clinch up but Starksson circles away and keeps his distance.

Starksson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Madden's waist but Madden gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Starksson off to one side.
