The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sampson stuffs the takedown.
Sampson circles away from the clinch attempt.

We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Barsolo has eaten all the pies!

Sampson closes the distance and pushes Barsolo back into the cage.
Sampson is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Barsolo is defending well for now.

Barsolo is throwing punches to the body, looking to soften Sampson up.

Barsolo connects with a series of strikes and the referee is calling for Sampson to escape the position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Barsolo's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
Barsolo gets his hooks in and is throwing strikes.
Barsolo tries to keep control of the position but Sampson is staying busy.

Barsolo is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Sampson has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Barsolo tries to clinch up

and Sampson decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Barsolo's guard.

Barsolo had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Sampson is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Barsolo Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Sampson's back instead.
You can see the frustration on Sampson's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Barsolo is pushing down on Sampson's leg trying to pass to half guard. Sampson is fighting to maintain full guard but Barsolo has managed to sneak the leg through.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sampson is looking to control Barsolo's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Sampson avoid being mounted?
Sampson on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Sampson tries to get out of the position.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Barsolo takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Sampson tries to score a body lock takedown but Barsolo shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Sampson moves out of range as Barsolo throws a body kick.

and Sampson counters with a nice uppercut.
Sampson is trying hard to land a takedown here. Barsolo sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Sampson tries for a takedown but Barsolo sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Sampson turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Barsolo off and cradles Sampson's limp body as Barsolo celebrates with his corner.
