PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Peter Griffin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Morcov Hara (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Peter Griffin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Morcov Hara!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Richard Clark and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Griffin moves into range and clinches up with Hara.
Griffin just leaning against Hara, taking a breather.
Griffin works on Hara's body with a couple of short punches.
Griffin makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Griffin is pushing Hara up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Griffin escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Hara lands with a kick to the temple. Griffin shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Griffin tries to clinch up but Hara circles away and keeps his distance.
Hara misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Griffin fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Hara keeps the fight on the outside.

Griffin fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Hara sprawls well initially but Griffin persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Griffin is trying to control the action in half guard but Hara is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Hara moves into full guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Hara is on top in guard.

Hara is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hara trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Griffin wants to stand and escape but Hara is having none of it.
Hara wants to control from the top but Griffin keeps moving.
Griffin might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Hara working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Hara tries to clinch but Griffin moves out of range.
Griffin misses with a two punch combination.
Hara will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Hara is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Griffin closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Griffin swings around for an armbar but Hara sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Griffin's guard.
Griffin is breathing heavily.
Hara in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hara accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Hara wants to control from the top but Griffin keeps moving.

Griffin wants to stand up but Hara is controlling him.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Hara tries to keep at a distance but Griffin has taken the fight into the clinch.
Griffin lands a body punch.
Griffin tries to break free but Hara pushes him back against the cage.

Hara breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
A lazy left from Griffin finds it's target.
Griffin tries to close the distance and clinch up but Hara swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Hara gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Griffin to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Hara controls Griffin momentarily but Griffin frees himself.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Peter Griffin dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Griffin shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Hara defends it nicely.

Griffin fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Hara sprawls well initially but Griffin persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Hara is trying to maintain the position but Griffin is very close to passing his half guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Griffin has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Hara is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Griffin knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hara on the ground.

Griffin wanted to stand there but Hara had control of the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Griffin moves into the clinch.
Griffin has Hara pressed against the cage.
Hara has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Griffin is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
A left hand lands to the body for Griffin.
A nice right hand lands inside from Griffin.
Griffin works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.

Griffin lands a nice uppercut.
Griffin is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.

Griffin lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Hara backwards.
Griffin lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Griffin lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Hara or not.

Griffin breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

A frustrated look appears on Hara's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Hara jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Griffin walks away with a smile on his face. Hara gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Peter Griffin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Morcov Hara.
Hara swats away the attempt to clinch by Griffin.

Griffin scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Griffin lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.

Griffin drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Griffin scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Hara to see if he's OK.
Griffin lands a nice forearm strike.
Hara regains half guard.
Griffin throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Hara wants to control but Griffin is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Griffin thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Hara wants to improve his position but Griffin is controlling well.
Hara is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Griffin scores with a couple of nice shots.
Hara slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Hara tries to score a power double leg takedown but Griffin sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Hara somewhat.

Griffin is pressed up against the cage. Hara has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Griffin down to the mat. Griffin avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

and Hara counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Griffin is trying to force a seperation but Hara has the dominant position.

Griffin bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Hara tries to get back to half guard but can't.

The ground and pound from Griffin seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
You can see the frustration on Hara's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Hara lands a head kick. Griffin smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

Griffin lands a left hand that snaps the head of Hara backwards.

Griffin throws and elbow that misses. Hara uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Griffin's guard. Nice move by Hara!
Hara stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Griffin swivels though and keeps the full guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Griffin rushes Hara and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Griffin makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.

Hara's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Morcov Hara has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Peter Griffin is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Peter Griffin showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Griffin has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
