PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gustav Swift (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bruno Cardim (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Gustav Swift has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Gustav Swift seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cardim keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Swift shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Cardim manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Cardim can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Swift controls the pace.
Cardim wants to stand up but Swift is controlling him.
Swift advances to half guard.

Swift looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Cardim really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Swift. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Cardim is looking for a sweep. Swift is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Swift wants to take a breather but Cardim is having none of it.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Swift in particular looking to stall.
Swift tries to pass the half guard into mount. Cardim knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Cardim sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Swift is looking to advance position but Cardim won't allow it.

Swift wants to work for an arm triangle but Cardim is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Cardim scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Swift manages to mount him!

Swift wants to finish this one by submission but Cardim is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Swift.

Swift is going olschool here, as he tries to force Cardim to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Cardim shrugs it off.

Cardim throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Cardim misses with a straight right.
Cardim staying out of range there.
Cardim throws a hook but Swift avoids it easily.

Swift throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Swift ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Cardim moves away.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Swift throws a wild body kick that Cardim sees coming a mile off.
Cardim connects with the punch.
Swift misses the shot to the body.

so Swift counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Swift sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Cardim's guard.

Swift is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Cardim is just riding it out for now. Swift eventually gives up the hold.

Cardim is breathing heavily.

Swift is trying to control. Cardim wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Cardim manages to escape and get back to his feet!

Cardim throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Swift throws a hook to the side of Cardim's head but Cardim sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Bruno Cardim is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Cardim throws a jab but it's blocked by Swift.
Swift shoots in for a double leg but Cardim sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Cardim throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Swift sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Cardim swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Swift counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Swift tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Cardim was well out of range. Poor timing from Swift.
Swift looks to score with a jab to the body but Cardim is just out of range.

Swift will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Swift fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Cardim manages to avoid it.
Swift feints and then cracks Cardim's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Cardim down.
Swift tries to land a front kick but Cardim steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Swift takes a swing at Cardim's ribcage but misses.

Swift feints and as Cardim raises his hands in defense, Swift changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Cardim tries to kick Swift off but Swift keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Swift is looking for a kimura but Cardim is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Swift to get the leverage.

Swift seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Cardim is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
