Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Mikel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Irv Goldman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck for Mikel with that takedown attempt.

Mikel shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Mikel was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Mikel is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Goldman is surviving well by controlling Mikel's body position as best he can.
Goldman is looking to improve his position but Mikel isn't that keen on the idea.
Mikel connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Goldman is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Mikel sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Goldman is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mikel jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Goldman is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Goldman and Mikel has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Mikel decides to stand up, so the ref orders Goldman to his feet.

Mikel fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Mikel wants to clinch.
Mikel shoots for a takedown but Goldman saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Johnny Mikel. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Mikel misses with an uppercut.
Mikel throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
A right-left combo lands from Mikel.
Mikel throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Goldman's waist but Goldman gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Mikel off to one side.
Goldman stalks Mikel and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Mikel's face. Mikel staggers backwards, shaken.
Mikel shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Goldman as he jumps to the side.
Mikel loads up on a big right hand but Goldman slips the punch.

Mikel takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Mikel shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Mikel is breathing heavily.
A big left from Mikel misses.
Mikel throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

so Goldman counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Goldman prevents Mikel from getting back to his feet.
Goldman passes into half guard.
Mikel looks like he's trying to stand up.
Goldman works his way into full mount!
Goldman is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. Mikel is in real trouble.
Mikel is covering up but some of the strikes from Goldman are getting through and doing damage.

Mikel grimaces as he takes a shot to the body.

I really don't envy Mikel right now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Goldman lands with a big left hand that may well have hurt his opponent. Can Mikel hold on?!

A bit of a pause in the action here. Goldman controlling the positon.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Mikel has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke.

Goldman is persistently looking for the submission but Mikel is defending it well.
Goldman has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Goldman is cranking Mikel's head sideways - that looks painful. He's managed to get his other arm under the chin and this looks bad for Mikel! He's tightened the choke and Mikel is tapping out!
