PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Xavier Rush (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Peter Olais (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Peter Olais was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Xavier Rush!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Peter Olais!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, William Peck and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rush stuffs the takedown.
Some wild striking there from Rush.
Rush looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Olais avoids a punch combination nicely.
Rush fails to land with a series of punches.
Rush misses with a looping left.
Rush misses with a jab, cross combination.
Rush rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Olais moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Rush throws a right and a left that both miss.
Olais fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rush throws a nice looking combination but Olais bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Rush is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Rush really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Olais uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Rush.

Rush keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Xavier Rush has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Peter Olais.

Olais drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Rush is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Olais trying to control but Rush is working from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Olais stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rush swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Rush throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Rush wants to stand and escape but Olais is having none of it.
Olais pushes down on Rush's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Rush is breathing heavily.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Rush looks to land a combination but Olais avoids it well.
Horrible takedown by Olais or perhaps it was just good defense by Rush which made him look bad.
Olais fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Olais shoots in for a takedown but Rush shows good takedown defense.
Rush lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Rush misses with a double jab.
Rush fails to land with a series of punches.
Rush is looking to clinch.
Rush tries to clinch up.
Rush throws a nice looking combination but Olais bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Olais circles away from the clinch attempt.
No joy there for Rush, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Olais.

Rush instigates a clinch.
Rush will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Olais up against the cage.
Rush wants to get back to striking at distance but Olais won't allow it.
A nice right hand lands inside from Rush.

Rush breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Xavier Rush seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rush throws a nice looking combination but Olais bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Rush misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Rush connects with a nice cross there... Olais is looking wobbly and Rush recognises it - he's rushed in and lands two more brutal shots that send Olais to the canvas, out cold! A brutal finish to the fight - Rush jumps onto the cage to celebrate with the crowd!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Xavier Rush!
