PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Walder Head (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jimmy Train (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Walder Head!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Anni Minnemäki and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Head throws a right and a left that both miss.
Head misses with a double jab.
Head connects with a right hand. Train shakes it off.
Head tries to clinch up but Train circles away and keeps his distance.
Head throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Train avoids a punch combination nicely.
Head sizes up Train with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Head throws a jab but it's blocked by Train.
A big left from Head misses.
Train tries to land a front kick but Head steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Train throws a right and a left that Head avoids nicely.
Head misses with a straight right.
Head misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Walder Head seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Head tries to close the distance and clinch but Train swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Train keeps the fight on the outside.
Head is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Train.

Train blocks a head kick by Head.
Train tries to land a front kick but Head steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Head will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Train uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Head.
Head swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Train walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Head paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Head looks to land a combination but Train avoids it well.
Head misses with a series of wild punches.
Head looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Head tries to clinch up but Train circles away and keeps his distance.
Head waving his hands out infront of him, looking to distract Train.

Head tries to close the distance and clinch up but Train swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Train fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Head is out of range.
Head misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Train feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Train stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Head swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Train trying to control but Head is working from the bottom.
Train is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Train is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Train drops back looking for a leg! Head is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Head manages to kick Train off! Train jumps back into Head's guard.
Train is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Head can't keep his opponent in guard - Train advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Walder Head dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Head looks to throw the jab but Train is out of range.
Head throws a right hand that Train ducks under and follows up with a left that Train also avoids with ease.
Head looks to land a combination but Train avoids it well.
Head wants to clinch up but Train keeps it at a distance.
Train avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Head tries to clinch but Train moves out of range.
Train avoids the head kick by Head.

Train shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Head napping and manages to drive through into side control!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Head gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Train looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Train can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Head is looking to escape.

Train is giving the impression that he's looking to ground and pound but he switches suddenly into a beautiful far side armbar! Head is forced to tap! Great finish!
