Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kazuri Sakuraba (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Henry Downey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kazuri Sakuraba has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kazuri Sakuraba!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Henry Downey!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Robert Twigg and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Downey slaps away a takedown attempt from Sakuraba, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Downey gets a takedown into half guard.
Sakuraba tries to roll over but Downey keeps him under control.
Sakuraba on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Downey working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Downey sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Sakuraba defending well though.
Sakuraba misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Sakuraba is trying to get back to full guard.
Sakuraba keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Downey is trying to control. Sakuraba wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Sakuraba has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Sakuraba tries to roll over but Downey keeps him under control.
Downey thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Sakuraba shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Sakuraba was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Sakuraba blocks Downey's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.

Sakuraba landing strikes from the mount and Downey is in trouble!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Downey wants to hold on but Sakuraba pushes him away.
Downey tries to buck Sakuraba off but he can't manage it.
BOOM! Sakuraba connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Sakuraba throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Downey slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Downey regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Sakuraba.
Downey utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Downey wants to get back to his feet but Sakuraba is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Sakuraba throws a big right hand that misses.
Sakuraba wants to pass the guard but Downey is keeping the position.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Sakuraba accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Downey trying to keep a closed guard but Sakuraba is proving a slippery customer.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Downey lands a head kick that stumbles Sakuraba and the fighters go to the mat.


Sakuraba is rocked!


It looks like Kazuri Sakuraba has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Downey scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Oh Sakuraba is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Sakuraba looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Downey trying to control but Sakuraba is working from the bottom.
Sakuraba seems to have got his legs back now.
Downey throwing strikes from guard but Sakuraba blocks nicely.
Sakuraba will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Downey postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Downey gets caught flat footed, as Sakuraba shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Sakuraba is breathing heavily.
Sakuraba postures up in Downey's guard and throws a big left but Downey blocks it.
Sakuraba tries to free his leg and advance position but Downey is retaining full guard.
Sakuraba won't allow Downey to sweep him here.
Downey manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Downey lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Sakuraba hang on?

Downey cracks Sakuraba with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Sakuraba is working to get back to half guard.
Downey lands with some strikes.

Sakuraba on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Sakuraba tries to get out of the position.
Downey lands a heavy elbow.
Sakuraba is wriggling around trying to escape.
Downey lands with some strikes.
Downey prevents Sakuraba from getting the reversal.
Downey working away from the top, dropping strikes.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Sakuraba regains half guard.
Downey passes to full mount!
Downey lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Henry Downey dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Kazuri Sakuraba's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Sakuraba takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Downey darts in and lands a big hook, right on the button! Sakuraba's legs crumble underneath him as he falls to the canvas! The ref tackles Downey before he gets to land any more shots to his stricken foe.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:20 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Henry Downey!
