The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pierre shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as kilhefner sprawls well. kilhefner wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Pierre gets slowly back to his feet.

so Pierre counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Pierre works over kilhefner with some ground and pound from guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
kilhefner has his hands on Pierre's head, controlling the position.
Pierre stands and throws kilhefner's legs to the side, diving into side control.
kilhefner gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

Pierre wants to work for an arm triangle but kilhefner is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

kilhefner is looking to improve his position but Pierre isn't that keen on the idea.

Pierre looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

Pierre lands a big elbow.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Pierre is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But kilhefner has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from kilhefner!
Pierre is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
