Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, James Myres!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chris Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Daniel Franklin and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Johnson swinging wilding here.
Chris Johnson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A head kick misses from Johnson.
Johnson tries for a takedown but Myres sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Johnson shoots in for a double leg but Myres sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Johnson jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Johnson scores to the head and body with a nice combination!


It looks like James Myres has been cut.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Johnson misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Johnson tries to bum rush Myres with a series of wild strikes but Myres uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
The fight stays on the outside here - Johnson looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Johnson is looking to clinch but Myres is avoiding it.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Johnson.
James Myres has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chris Johnson.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Myres scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Johnson is defending against the submission attempts here by Myres.
Johnson tries to roll over but Myres keeps him under control.

Myres is trying to work for a kimura but Johnson is defending well.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Johnson slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Myres trying to stand up but can't free himself from Johnson's guard.

Myres looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Myres closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Myres is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Johnson doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Myres.
Myres is looking to take a break and control but Johnson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Johnson wants to improve his position but Myres is controlling well.
Myres not doing much here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Johnson is looking to improve his position.
Myres sitting and controlling from the half guard.

Myres has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Myres prevents Johnson from improving his position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Myres escapes and gets back to his feet.
Myres showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Johnson.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Johnson fails with the takedown

and Myres counters with a nice double leg into side control. Johnson won't be happy with that.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Myres's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Johnson misses with a series of wild punches.
Johnson tries for a takedown but Myres circles away easily

and Myres decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Johnson's guard.

Myres gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Johnson misses with the body kick

and Myres counters with a single leg into guard. Johnson didn't expect that.
Myres seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Johnson looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
James Myres overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Johnson takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Myres slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Myres wants to pass the guard but Johnson is keeping the position.

Myres thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Myres postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Johnson is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Myres, into his guard.
Johnson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Myres. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Myres keeping moving, preventing Johnson from controlling successfully.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Myres pulls Johnson in close to prevent any damage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Myres working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Johnson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Johnson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

And that's the end of the fight!
James Myres showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Myres has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
