PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kable Coley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Austin Duran (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Duran is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Still Fly. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kable Coley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Austin Duran!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Stewart Dunkirk and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Coley throws a series of punches but Duran moves out of range.
Coley moves out of range of the body kick from Duran.
Nice takedown defense from Coley. No joy for Duran on that attempt.

Coley scores a takedown into full mount!
Duran tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Duran sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Coley sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Duran defending well though.
Duran moves into full guard.

Duran has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Coley can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Duran has his foot on Coley's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Coley works his way back into a safe position though.
Coley is looking to work some ground and pound but Duran has wrist control.
Coley missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Duran is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Coley is breathing heavily.

Coley got a little sloppy there for a moment and Duran has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Coley has managed to get both his arms back between Duran's legs - danger averted.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Coley throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Duran works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Duran working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Coley.
Coley in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Coley gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Duran walks forward, straight into a front kick from Coley.

Coley rushes Duran and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Coley goes for a takedown attempt but Duran pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Duran fails with an attempt to clinch.
Duran slips a jab and a cross from Coley.

Coley gets in close and instigates a clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Coley breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Coley scores with a takedown into Duran's guard.
Coley preventing the sweep.
Coley postures up and lands a big shot to Duran's brow.
Coley trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Duran looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Coley would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Coley gets to his feet. Duran looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
A punch combination from Coley misses.
Duran throws a body kick despite being completely out of range
and Coley counters with a body kick.
Coley walks into a jab.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Coley lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Duran backs up against the cage.

and Duran holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Coley trying to control the position but instead, Duran has worked for underhooks and has pushed Coley into the cage.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Coley.

Duran breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
No luck for Coley with that takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kable Coley. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Coley walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Coley connects with a high kick.

Duran gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Coley gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Coley with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Coley won't allow Duran to sweep him here.
Coley is looking to advance position but Duran has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
Coley wants to get back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Duran looking for a guillotine from mount but Coley is having none of it.
Duran looking to control but Coley is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Coley is trying to stand.
Duran trying to control but he's not successful this time.
You get the feeling that Coley really doesn't like being in this position too much.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Duran has hold of Coley's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Coley manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Coley trying desperately to get to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Kable Coley will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Duran gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Coley loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Coley postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Duran has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Coley doesn't defend quickly enough and Duran has managed to lock this one up! Can Coley escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Duran on a fantastic submission victory.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:35 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Austin Duran!
