Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Peter Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sho Ru (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sho Ru has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Peter Gracie's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Peter Gracie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Sho Ru!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and .




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie tries to clinch there but Ru circles away.

Gracie feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Gracie thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Ru is trying to control the position but Gracie postures up.
Ru wants to sweep here but Gracie controlling him for the moment.

Gracie is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Gracie drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Gracie jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Ru gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Gracie counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Gracie is breathing heavily.

Ru wants to control but Gracie is keeping busy.
Ru wants to improve his position but Gracie is controlling well.
Ru is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Gracie is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Ru has managed to free his arm - good work.
Ru is trying to stand.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Gracie prevents Ru from improving his position.
Ru pushes Gracie off looking to stand but Gracie dives back in and keeps control.

Gracie is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
The fighters are battling for position here. Ru manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Gracie has gone for a leg lock! Ru slips out almost immediately though and dives into Gracie's guard.
Ru wants to control from the top but Gracie keeps moving.
Ru tries to free his leg and advance position but Gracie is retaining full guard.
Ru is looking to stand up but Gracie won't let him.

Gracie is looking for a triangle but Ru pushes his legs off easily.

Gracie isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Ru stacks Gracie on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Ru!

Ru trying to control the position but Gracie is working away.
Ru landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
Ru tries to move into full mount but can't pass Gracie's legs.
Gracie is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Ru's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Ru lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ru with a lazy takedown attempt

and Gracie counters with a single leg into guard. Ru didn't expect that.

Gracie drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Ru dives on top into guard.

Gracie isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Ru stacks Gracie on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Ru!
Gracie is not content to let Ru control the position.
Ru moves into full mount!

Ru with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Ru trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Ru is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Ru postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Gracie looks a forlorn figure.
Gracie is wriggling around trying to escape.
Ru thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Gracie is looking to get to half guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Ru looking to control but Gracie is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Peter Gracie overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Gracie is looking to get to half guard.
Gracie is squirming around, avoiding Ru's attempts to control the action.

Ru gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
Gracie takes a body punch but keeps moving.

Ru has Gracie up against the cage in a clinch.
Ru landing knees to the head.
Ru changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Gracie fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Ru doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Gracie counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Gracie.
Peter Gracie has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sho Ru.
Gracie tries to pull guard but Ru won't allow it.
Gracie jumps guard but Ru stands there with Gracie around his waist. Gracie gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Gracie is trying to break free.
Gracie jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Ru walks away with a smile on his face. Gracie gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Sho Ru seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ru fails with the takedown

and Gracie counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Ru!

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Gracie working for a submission but Ru is keeping him at bay.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Gracie jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Ru is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Ru and Gracie has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! And we move into the final round!

Ru plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!

Gracie is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Ru is aware though and is defending well.
Ru trying to control the position from guard on top but Gracie is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Ru might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Gracie kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Gracie looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Ru stands up from Gracie's guard - Ru perhaps looking for a knockout.

Gracie tries to keep at a distance but Ru has taken the fight into the clinch.
Ru working Gracie over with knees to the body.

Ru's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Ru has his takedown stuffed

and Gracie counters with a nice double leg into side control. Ru won't be happy with that.

Gracie has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Ru is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Gracie yanks on the arm and Ru is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Gracie.
