PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Billy Ba (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andrew Bourdeau (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bourdeau has chosen Fall out boy- From now on we are enemies as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Andrew Bourdeau has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Billy Ba's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 1, fighting out of New York, Billy Ba!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Andrew Bourdeau!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Joseph Jones and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ba wants to clinch.
Ba shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Bourdeau as he avoids it easily.
Bourdeau circles away from the clinch attempt.
Ba is looking to clinch.
Ba tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Ba tries to clinch up.
Ba is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Bourdeau will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ba is looking to clinch but Bourdeau is avoiding it.
Bourdeau misses with a series of wild punches.

Ba tries to close the distance and clinch up but Bourdeau swats him away and circles back towards the center.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Bourdeau is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Ba pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Ba looking to throw knees to the head but Bourdeau is blocking nicely.
A nice right hand lands inside from Bourdeau.

Ba misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Bourdeau.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Ba takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Ba is trying to get back to full guard.
Ba is breathing heavily.
Bourdeau wants to lay and pray for a moment but Ba keeps working.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Ba is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Bourdeau pulls his head out easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Andrew Bourdeau dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Ba gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Bourdeau misses with a punch to the body.
Bourdeau changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Ba fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Bourdeau keeps the fight on the outside.
Billy Ba seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bourdeau misses with a low kick.
Ba throws a head kick that misses.
Ba tries to clinch but Bourdeau moves out of range.

Bourdeau blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Bourdeau lands a body shot.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
A nice left hand lands by Bourdeau.
Ba misses with a knee to the head.
A short right from Bourdeau.
Ba throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Bourdeau blocks it with crossed arms.

Bourdeau lands a takedown into guard.
Bourdeau is in close to Ba's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Bourdeau working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Ba looking for subs off his back but Bourdeau has passed one foot through into half guard.

Ba is defending against the submission attempts here by Bourdeau.

Bourdeau is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ba wants to get back to full guard.

Ba keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Ba wants to control but Bourdeau is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Ba pushes Bourdeau off looking to stand but Bourdeau dives back in and keeps control.
Bourdeau throwing shots but Ba is blocking nicely.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Ba moves in looking to clinch but Bourdeau pushes him off.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Ba tries to clinch but Bourdeau moves out of range.
No joy there for Bourdeau, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Bourdeau lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Ba backs up against the cage.


It looks like Billy Ba has been cut.
Bourdeau thows a leg kick but Ba checks it

and Ba counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Ba.
Bourdeau is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Ba stopping the sweep attempt from Bourdeau.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Ba accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Ba stops Bourdeau from standing up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Andrew Bourdeau showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The cut man is working on Billy Ba's cut.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!

Bourdeau clinches up with Ba and pushes him back against the cage.
Ba blocks an uppercut.
Ba misses with a knee to the head.
Ba with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Bourdeau tries to break the clinch but Ba is controlling the position.
Bourdeau blocks an elbow strike.
Bourdeau lands a body punch in the clinch.
Ba unloads a knee to the mid-section. Bourdeau lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
Ba using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Bourdeau has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
A nice left hand lands by Bourdeau.
A short right from Bourdeau.
Bourdeau throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Bas head.
Ba tries a knee to the head but Bourdeau blocks it.

Bourdeau breaks the clinch.

Bourdeau lands a big right hand that sends Ba crashing to the mat! Bourdeau stays standing though and waves Ba back to his feet!


Ba is rocked!
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Bourdeau thumps Ba with a low kick.
Oh Ba is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Bourdeau drops a shoulder and throws an uppercut that cracks Ba right on the button. Ba goes down! Bourdeau follows him to the mat and finishes the job with more strikes! Bourdeau gets the win via TKO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:01 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Andrew Bourdeau!
