Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jon Deveraux (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Daniel Larusso (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jon Deveraux!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Daniel Larusso!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Daniel Cesar and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Deveraux misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Deveraux.
Larusso walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
A punch combination from Larusso misses.
Larusso throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Deveraux displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Larusso throws out the jab.
Larusso lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Larusso.
Larusso slaps away a takedown attempt from Deveraux, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Deveraux scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Deveraux is working for a kimura from half guard. He's really concentrating on the hold and it's allowed Larusso to slip a leg under and get back to full guard.

Deveraux drops back, looking for a kneebar! Larusso looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Larusso looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Larusso!

Larusso decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Larusso displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Deveraux.
Larusso lands a lovely overhand right.
Larusso throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Deveraux cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Horrible takedown by Deveraux or perhaps it was just good defense by Larusso which made him look bad.

and Deveraux decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Larusso's guard.
Larusso is looking to stand up but Deveraux isn't so interested in that idea.

Deveraux wants to control from the top but Larusso keeps moving.

Deveraux drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Larusso manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Deveraux has Larusso in his guard.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Deveraux tries to buck Larusso off but Larusso is having none of it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Daniel Larusso will probably get the nod.

Larusso is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Larusso is pressed up against the cage. Deveraux has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Larusso down to the mat. Larusso avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Jon Deveraux overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Larusso throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Deveraux.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Deveraux is working to tighten is grip on Larusso's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Larusso has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Deveraux is really squeezing tight and eventually Larusso passes out! Deveraux breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
