PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dick McGee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Vincent (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vincent has chosen EnterSandman as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Dick McGee!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Frank Vincent!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Winston Howard and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McGee tries to score a power double leg takedown but Vincent sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten McGee somewhat.
Vincent misses with the combination.
McGee stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and McGee wants it to stay on the feet.
Vincent throws a leg kick but McGee moved away.

McGee feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Vincent is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
McGee is looking to stand up but Vincent won't let him.
McGee trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
McGee forces his way into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Well, if McGee is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Vincent trying to hold on to McGee's head to control him but McGee postures up.
McGee seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Vincent does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Vincent wants to get back to full guard.
McGee tries to stand but can't do so whilst Vincent controls his leg.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
McGee is keen to just control but Vincent is a slippery customer.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Vincent bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

McGee is looking to regain half guard here but Vincent keeps moving and retains side control.
McGee can't do much from the bottom here.
McGee is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.
Vincent happy to just control the position for now.
Vincent connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused McGee some visible discomfort.

McGee is looking to regain half guard here but Vincent keeps moving and retains side control.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Vincent misses with a wild combination.

The fight stays on the outside here - McGee looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Vincent gets in close and instigates a clinch.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Vincent has hold of one of McGee's legs. McGee is fighting the takedown attempt but Vincent gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Vincent wants to control from the top but McGee keeps moving.
Vincent looking to sit in guard and control but McGee gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

McGee stands up from Vincent's guard - McGee perhaps looking for a knockout.
Vincent gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and McGee decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Vincent's guard.
McGee stands up over Vincent, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
McGee not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


McGee moves in looking to clinch but Vincent pushes him off.

McGee is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Vincent has managed to free his arm - good work.

McGee is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
McGee seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Vincent does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

McGee works his way into side control.
McGee with the ground and pound but Vincent regains half guard under the barage of strikes.
Vincent has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. McGee is working away from the top position though.

McGee scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with McGee in particular looking to stall.
Vincent wants to improve his position but McGee is controlling well.
McGee slips a nice elbow through Vincent's hands, connecting with Vincent's forehead.
Vincent is trying to get back to full guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

McGee scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
McGee advances to mount.

McGee lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Vincent in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
McGee controlling from the full mount.
McGee trying to control but Vincent is having none of it.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Vincent tries to lock up and control but McGee gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Vincent really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
McGee in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
McGee trying to control but he's not successful this time.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

and Vincent decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in McGee's guard.

McGee manages to escape and get back to his feet.
McGee blocks a low kick nicely.
Vincent is looking to land body kicks.

McGee changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Vincent looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

McGee stands up and we're back to a striking position.
McGee swats away the attempt to clinch by Vincent.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

McGee shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

McGee postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Vincent looks a forlorn figure.

McGee is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Vincent is surviving well by controlling McGee's body position as best he can.
McGee wants to control the pace but Vincent is squirming around nicely.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

McGee goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Vincent is on top in guard.

McGee throws a strike from the bottom that misses.

Vincent is pressing down on McGee's thigh, looking to free his foot. McGee is holding on for now.

Vincent stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows McGee to get to his feet.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
McGee tries to clinch up.
Vincent closes the distance but McGee moves to the side

and McGee counters with a shoot takedown. Vincent fights it but they end up in guard.

Vincent is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Dick McGee showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for McGee, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
