Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jamie Kingston (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wes Devin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jamie Kingston!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Wes Devin!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Damien Edna and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Devin shoots in and drives through. Kingston sprawls well.
Wes Devin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kingston shoots in for a takedown but Devin shows good takedown defense.
Horrible takedown by Kingston or perhaps it was just good defense by Devin which made him look bad.
Kingston dives in and grabs Devin's left leg, looking for a takedown. Devin pushes down on Kingston's head and hops out.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jamie Kingston. That's going to take a lot out of him.

so Kingston counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Devin wants to hit a switch here but Kingston passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Devin there!

Kingston is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Devin is surviving well by controlling Kingston's body position as best he can.

Devin working to try and regain half guard.
Kingston wants to stand but Devin is holding on to him, trying to stop him posturing up.
Devin tries to lock up and control but Kingston gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Kingston working for a submission but Devin is keeping him at bay.
Kingston is breathing heavily.

Kingston goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Devin turns into him and now he's in Kingston's guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Devin is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Kingston is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Kingston has escaped and now he's on top!
Devin seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Devin wants to sweep but no luck.
Devin is looking to stand up but Kingston isn't so interested in that idea.
Kingston is fighting to break Devin's control of his arms but Devin is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Kingston works a leg free and moves into half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Devin punching from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Devin is looking for a sweep. Kingston is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Devin really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kingston. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Devin trying to control but Kingston postures up.
Devin makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Devin.
Devin bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Kingston's guard.
Devin is looking to work some ground and pound but Kingston has wrist control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Devin wants to clinch but Kingston slips to the side

and Kingston counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Kingston is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Devin defends it well.

Devin looking for submissions off his back.
Devin is looking to improve his position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Devin is looking to control Kingston's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Devin avoid being mounted?
Devin is doing well to control the position and prevent Kingston from advancing to side control.
Devin works his way to full guard. Good work.
Devin lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Kingston!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kingston wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Devin.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Devin working for a guillotine from mount but Kingston is in no mood to give up.

Devin cracks Kingston with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Devin looking to control but Kingston is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Devin controlling from the full mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Kingston is trying to escape the mount.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Devin working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Jamie Kingston will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Devin throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Nice sprawl there from Devin as Kingston shoots in.
Devin fails in his attempt to clinch.
Devin is looking to clinch but Kingston is avoiding it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Devin throws a right and a left that both miss.
Kingston blocks the body kick.

Devin has closed the distance and engaged Kingston in a clinch.

Devin breaks the clinch.
Devin tries to clinch up but Kingston circles away and keeps his distance.

Devin scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Devin prevents Kingston from improving his position.

Kingston looking for submissions off his back.

Devin stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Kingston to get to his feet.

Nice takedown defense from Kingston. No joy for Devin on that attempt.
Devin misses with a wild combination.
Devin dives in and grabs Kingston's left leg, looking for a takedown. Kingston pushes down on Devin's head and hops out.
Devin tries to close the distance and clinch up but Kingston swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Jamie Kingston has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Wes Devin.

Devin is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Kingston looking to pass the guard.
Devin is pulling down on Kingston's head. It's preventing any offense from Kingston, at least for the moment.

Devin pushes Kingston off and gets back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Devin shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Devin slaps away a takedown attempt from Kingston, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Devin tries to clinch up but Kingston circles away and keeps his distance.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Wes Devin.
I think Kingston has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
